to cover the introduction, teaching, playing and coaching of rugby with a strong focus on player skills with support of video
coaching to ensure the "contact" part of the game is conducted safely, this is fully supported by our video feedback
sessions as player health and safety is paramount.
We also begin to explore the various positions and roles within
the game, and to test what has been learned, the minis often play matches against other teams from and around London and the
home counties especially with our friends at Egham with whom we play a five match series for a trophy!

Abbotts u12 win Eghan Festival
A scratch Abbotts side (7) joined with Phoenix (8) to create a team for the u12 compitition.
First team against them was Slough, expecting tough opposition, the Abbs/Phoenix team slammed them 25 - 5, was it
a fluke? Have Slough sent in their reserve team?
Next team were Harlequinns, this team had a very vocal backing
from parents & coaching staff. Looking for an easy win, they soon found they had a tough nut to crack. They threw everything
at the scratch side, surley they couldn't lose. Well they didn't lose, but then again they didn't win, it was
a close run draw 5 - 5.
So onto the last pool game against Egham, who so far hadn't lost a game. By this
time the scratch side had bonded very well and began to rely and trust each other, which was just as well, because Egham were
up for it to win their own competition. It was a hard and at times, fast contest, it could have gone either way, but
at the end the scratch side were victorious.
So who was in the Final...... it's us, the scratch team against.........Oh
no, Egham, can we do it again, is there enough steam in the legs to see us through?
Well it was another titanic
game, try saving tackles, tactical kicking, numerous scrums, but at the end of the day, there could be only one winner, which
was the scratch side. The combined side of Abbotts & Phoenix had won the day.
Phoenix have elected to
hold the cup for the first six months, which is handy, as we are coming to the close season, then we have it during the playing
season, so can be on display in the club house, see there's a method in the madness.
A big well done to all
who turned up to play and support a good result all round.
(No names have been used to protect the innocent
and prevent head swelling) :-)
